Dr. Robert Wensil - Pastor
Pastor Robert Wensil and his wife Marty
The month of October has been a busy month for our church and also a sickly month as so many have been out of church with colds, sinus infections, and flu-like symptoms. If you have been sick we pray that you are well by now or at least on the road to recovery.
We want to express a word of gratitude to any of our church members who helped in our night of fun and games for the kids on Halloween Day. The biggeset majority of those here were either non-church members or guests. I challenge you if you know any of them personally to invite them to come and share in worship at our church.
In just a few short weeks we will be celebrating the season of Thanksgiving. Our joint service with the Methodist and the Presbyterian Churches will be held this year at our church on Sunday night, the 20th. We encourage you to make our church proud and be here for that time of gratitude and thanksgiving. When I think about thanksgiving I am reminded of an illustration by Tony Evans. If you buy an appliance and it doesn't work after you've paid for it, that is quite irritating. It's not a good feeling to know you've paid hundreds of dollars for an appliance that doesn't work. It drives me crazy to think that the folks at the store where I bought my appliance took my money and I recieved a defective product.
Well, Jesus paid it all. He paid for you. He shed his blood for you so the last thing He wants to hear, having paid the expensive price for you and me is that we're not working or that we don't feel like doing our jobs for Him today. We should be glad to serve Him our of gratitude for the gift of salvation. Just remember how fortunate you are to be able to serve. The best way to express Thnaksgiving either for Jesus or someone else is to do something for them. That work is not a passive word. To be thankful is to do something, it require saction. So get busy bing thankful and have a Happy Thanksgiving.
In the Kings Business,
Your Pastor
"Every time I think of you, I give thanks to my God. I always pray for you, and I make my requests with a heart full of joy because you have been my partners in spreading the Good News about Christ from the time you first heard it until now. Philippians 1:3-5
